​Panel to Take Part in IAMs Discussion on New Financing Structures and Accountability at IAIA Meeting

The Inspection Panel on April 7 will join Independent Accountability Mechanisms (IAMs) from other international financial institutions for a session at the International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA) annual conference in Montreal. Panel Executive SecretaryDilek Barlasand representatives from other IAMs will discuss “trends in new financing structures and accountability for environmental and social impacts.” Among the questions they will address are what challenges IAMs face in dealing with complaints involving different financial instruments, and if climate change is relevant in these types of operations from the IAMs’ perspective. This will be the second of two panel discussions the IAMs are sponsoring at the IAIA meeting. The first will examine how IAMs help to improve climate change initiatives and projects being put forward by multilateral development banks. The theme of this year’s IAIA conference is “Impact Assessment’s Contribution to the Global Efforts in Addressing Climate Change.”
