Panel Explains Mandate to American University Law Students, Participants in Program for Doctoral Law Students

The Inspection Panel on June 12, 2018, hosted a group from American University’s Washington College of Law, including about two dozen participants in the annual conference of The Association of Transnational Law Schools (ATLAS). Panel Operations Officer Birgit Kuba explained the Panel’s history, mandate and operations to the group. Ms. Kuba and fellow Operations Officer Tamara Milsztajn also answered questions on a range of topics, including how the Panel addresses retaliation against complainants, the time period in which the Panel can consider complaints, and collaboration among independent accountability mechanisms in investigating complaints related to co-financed projects. ATLAS was formed in 2006 to bring together doctoral students in the field of law. The association strives to promote in-depth study of issues related to the comparative legal and regulatory responses to globalization, the evolution of transnational law, and the challenges involved in international governance.
