Panel Takes Part in Civil Society Policy Forum Orientation

​Inspection Panel Chairman Gonzalo Castro de la Mata on April 17 explained the Panel’s mandate and operations at the Civil Society Policy Forum (CSPF) Orientation. He joined colleagues from the World Bank’s Grievance Redress Service, Integrity Vice Presidency and Office of the Compliance Advisor Ombudsman in addressing about 50 civil society representatives. In his presentation, Chairman Castro de la Mata showed avideo of how the Panel operatesand used a2005 case from the Democratic Republic of Congoto illustrate the Panel’s work. He responded to questions on a range of topics, including how potentially affected communities can file complaints, how it is determined if a case merits investigation, how gender-related cases are handled, and the size and make-up of the Panel and its staff. The CSPF is part of the World Bank Group-International Monetary Fund Spring Meetings and continues all week.
