Panel Presents Highlights of Emerging Lessons Series to Executive Directors

The Inspection Panel on Feb. 25 presented the highlights of its first Emerging Lessons report to the Committee on Development Effectiveness of the World Bank Group’s Board of Executive Directors. The report, which was presented by Chairman Gonzalo Castro de la Mata, focuses on lessons learned about involuntary resettlement from the Panel’s caseload over its 22-year existence. The Emerging Lessons series is intended to help build the institutional knowledge-base, enhance accountability, foster better development results and ultimately contribute to more effective development outcomes. The Panel’s report on involuntary resettlement will be released publicly at this year’s Spring Meetings. It will be followed later this year by Emerging Lessons reports on environmental assessment, indigenous peoples and consultation.
