Panel Takes Part in Civil Society Policy Forum Orientation Session

The Inspection Panel on April 17 took part in a discussion about the World Bank Group’s (WBG) accountability mechanisms as part of the Civil Society Policy Forum’s orientation session at the IMF-WBG Spring Meetings. Operations Officer Birgit Kuba explained the Panel’s history and mandate and discussed specific cases as part of the session, which also included representatives of the Bank’s Grievance Redress Service, Integrity Vice Presidency, Internal Evaluation Group and the Compliance Advisor Ombudsman. All of the panelists responded to questions on a range of topics, including the confidentiality of complainants and steps taken to limit or respond to retaliation against them, efforts to reach out to communities to make them aware of the mechanisms, and action to address gender-based violence related to Bank-funded projects.
