U.N. Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Visits Inspection Panel

The United Nations special rapporteur on the rights of persons with disabilities visited the Inspection Panel on March 9. Catalina Devandas Aquilar told the Panel that her position was created just over a year ago with the dual mandate to promote human rights and inclusive development, and to “build the bridges” between organizations. She said the impact of development projects on people with disabilities needs to be considered when projects are designed. “Just making project managers aware of the need to consider that is a big step forward,” she said.
